Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information onlinehearingtest.app collects, how Google Analytics is used, and why your hearing results never leave your device.

Overview

onlinehearingtest.app (“we”, “us”) operates the free browser hearing test at onlinehearingtest.app. You can take the test without creating an account, and your results are stored only on your device.

Information we collect

We do not require you to sign up or provide a name, password, or payment details to take the test.

  • Local test results: your last 12 audiograms (estimated thresholds per ear and frequency), hearing scores, and settings such as headphone mode and interface sound are saved in your browser's local storage so you can compare results over time. This data is never sent to us or anyone else.
  • Usage analytics: we use Google Analytics to collect aggregated information about how the site is used.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to measure traffic and engagement — for example page views, sessions, and two test events: starting a test and finishing one. The finish event carries only the output mode (headphones or speakers), a score band rounded to 10 points, the overall hearing grade, and the duration — never your audiogram or per-frequency results. Google may process data such as:

  • Approximate location derived from IP address
  • Device and browser type
  • Pages visited and time spent on the site
  • The test start and completion events described above

Google Analytics uses cookies or similar technologies where supported by your browser. Google's processing of this data is governed by Google's own policies. You can learn more in Google's Privacy Policy and manage analytics preferences through your browser settings or Google's opt-out tools where available.

We use this information only to understand how onlinehearingtest.app is used and to improve the test and site experience. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies and similar technologies

In addition to any cookies used by Google Analytics, your browser stores the local test results and settings described above. You can clear cookies and site data at any time through your browser settings; doing so deletes your saved results and affect analytics measurement.

How we use information

  • To operate and improve onlinehearingtest.app
  • To understand how many people start and complete the test
  • To maintain site reliability and diagnose issues

Data retention

Local results remain on your device until you delete them from the history panel or clear site data. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics configuration and Google's retention settings.

Children

onlinehearingtest.app is a general-audience hearing screening and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a way that requires parental consent under applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us outside normal analytics, please reach out via our About Us page.

Third-party links

The site may link to third-party resources (for example Google policies). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the site after updates means you acknowledge the revised policy.
